I’m learning a new language.
Of all the things to be the reason for her excitement, Alucard hadn’t expected it had anything to do with him. Or the native tongue he hadn’t heard from anyone but himself since his death as Vlad.
She hesitated, thinking her answer over carefully in her head. She was blushing like a bloody schoolgirl! Well, at least he seemed more interested in her new study rather than her demeanor at the moment…
"I wanted to get to know you better, domnule. So… I started looking around the library and found some old books; maybe even as old as you!” she teased, probably correct.
Though he admitted it to few, Alucard used to spend much of his time appreciating literature. The manor’s library was far more impressive than the one he had at home, but he was sure he was its only visitor. As noted, many of the books were ancient. To create the illusion of home, Romanian novels and war stories took up most of the space.
If better knowing me is your goal, the books I’ve read will speak louder than I.
The simplest things brought him happiness. Seras’ interest in him was something he had gotten used to; interest in him as her master. But as a man, one he had long since been, was an interest that made him feel a bit more connected. He considered for a while that she may think bad of him, or fear who he used to be. But in sharing a few foreign words, native to the vampire, he felt that thought slipping.
